RegioStars Awards 2017 finalists
SEAP_Alps, a successfull Interreg Alpine Space project within the programme period 2009-2014, is still blossoming. Numerous sustainable enery action and climate adaptation plans have been initiated by the project. In December 2015, a new Interreg Alpien Space project - PEACE_Alps - was based on the foundations that were laid by this project: bundling measures of different municipalities for the most effective implementation of energy and climate adaptation measures.
Into 2017 the project was selected as finalists for the RegioStars Awards in the "Energy Union: Climate action" category by @Europe in my region!
The award ceremony took place in Brussels on Tuesday, 10 October during the 2017 European Week of Regions and Cities. For the Interreg Alpine Space Programme, communication officer Julia Chenut (3rd from left), and for SEAP_Alps, project lead partner Silvio De Nigris (4th from left) were present in Brussels. They received a medal and a certificate.

Review of the SEAP_Alps project (31.05.2015)
On 31 May 2015 the SEAP_Alps project will be finalized, and the partnership looks back to numerous fruitful results and good cooperation. The objective of the project was to promote energy planning at local level, boosting the capacity of project partners in supporting small and medium municipalities in the drafting of Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs).
Signatories of the Covenant of Mayors voluntarily commit to increasing energy efficiency and the use of sustainable energy sources in their municipality. More than 6000 local authorities are part of the European initiative. They do not only use the political signal strength at the European level, but also instruments free of charge to achieve their ambitious climate objectives.
Energy efficiency of public buildings contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions and is one the measures in the preparation of Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP). In the framework of the project SEAP Alps the measures will be achieved together with local authorities, stakeholders and energy agencies. By 2020 municipalities will provide an enormous contribution to the reduction of CO2.

Focus on Alpine conditions – decline in tourism (13.04.2015)
Being the second most important region in France in terms of attendance and the prime destination for the mountains or the countryside, tourism related economic questions are an important issue for the municipalities of CoPLER. A significant climate change could have a large impact on the sector, with an effect on the choice of destination and on attendance.
SEAP_Alps Training Platform (11.04.2015)
SEAP_Alps has introduced an innovative approach to the field of local energy planning in the Alpine area that takes into account both mitigation and adaptation to climate
The Municipality of Orbassano started its energy planning process in 2013 by joining the Covenant of Mayors and the SEAP_Alps project. The job has been focused on drafting a Sustainable Energy Action Plan, by analyzing the energy and emissions balances for the whole territory and identifying the best solutions for achieving or even exceeding a 20% reduction of greenhouse gases by 2020.
In the frame of the project SEAP_Alps, an online Action Tool has been developed which provides valuable assistance to municipalities and working groups in finding out which sustainable energy projects can be considered for the action plan. Within each area of intervention a variety of possible actions are displayed, complemented by examples which are provided in project sheets. These project sheets can be selected and downloaded as word files for further modification.
